Vision & Mission

The guiding principles behind RUBWA's social service, education, health, culture, and relief programmes.

Rahara United Brothers' Welfare Association (RUBWA)

Rahara United Brothers' Welfare Association (RUBWA) was founded in September 1990 with commitment to work in the multifarious fields of social and cultural work at the regional level, addressing to the needs and priorities of the poor, deprived and the marginalized sections of the community residing in the rural and semi-urban areas.

RUBWA is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization, originally formed by past students of Ramakrishna Mission, Rahara. The organization has now spread to its wings to bringing in more members, all united in their mission to give back to society in as many ways as possible.

RUBWA is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1961, Govt. of West Bengal and the Registration No. is S/1L/80946. RUBWA has essentially brought together a group of friends, united by their common goal of wanting to do something for society. They take active part in organizing and funding a variety of activities for the general benefit and upliftment of society.

RUBWA's activities span the range from organizing cultural competitions and sports meets to blood donation camps, handing out of health and hygiene kits and relief efforts.

Our Journey & Impact

The association has, over the years, tried to help those most in need of help. On the one hand, RUBWA tries to help streetchildren get a good education in order to give them a fair chance at excelling, while on the other, it believes in giving them a platform to showcase their talents to the world. While blood donation camps, aid collection drives and running of night schools form part of the association's activities, the jewel in the crown is the cultural competition in the name of "Prabha Sandhan" organized by RUBWA every year.

This programme consists of a gamut of activities – from 'sruti natok' and sit and draw competitions to recitation, music and elocution. This programme aims to bring together streetchildren from all parts of the city and give them an opportunity to uplift and enrich themselves. This event has featured top-notch celebrities in the past — Suman Chattopadhyay (now Kabir Suman), Nachiketa, Haimanti Shukla, Utpalendu Chowdhury, Subir Sen, Sunanda Basak and PC Sorcar Jr. are some of the names that have performed here.

We published two little magazines, in the name of "Ankur" & "AAlap".
